The experience in the Páramo de Santurbán is designed for nature lovers who love high altitude hikes and warm weather. The Black Lagoon you will visit is located almost 4,000 meters (13,000 feet) above sea level. With one of the largest freshwater reserves in the world, the Páramo de Santurbán is protected by local people who admire its amazing ecosystem, including the unique “high altitude” Frailejones plants.
After a trip of approx. 2 hours on paved roads and an hour on a dirt road, you will begin the walk of about 2 km to the lagoon. The hike is slightly uphill and due to the altitude and low oxygen level, it will feel like much longer than 2 km. Upon reaching the lagoon you will have the opportunity to take incredible photographs and if you want to continue walking, you can walk around for another hour.
Prices may vary according to the season.
